“Safe” strategy

Many players search for “safe” strategy of playing roulette. More often this search leads to strategy of change of size of the rates, most popular of which is martingale. The essence martingale is that in the case of loss the rate increases twofold. For example, you have started to put from $1 and have lost 4 times successively, then you have won, your result will look so:-1,-2,-4,-8, +16 - total +1. Everything seems to look so good - the player remains “on velvet” after several losses. But whether martingale or any other system of rates actually can give a safe strategy or at least an increase of expectation?

The answer is unequivocal enough and it is hardly pleasant to fans of “safe” game - NO! Theoretically martingale works, if you can infinitely increase the rate. In practice your purse is not infinite, moreover there are table limits. Interested people can esteem article with criticism of martingale, while I will make an official statement - no system of rates changes expectation of the game!!! As a result of application of system of rates of martingale type the dispersion can change. As a result of game on martingale you will win many times on a trifle then you will lose at once, but is so large, that it will block all the previous prizes. And it does not depend on honesty or dishonesty of a casino? It is a pure mathematics, the probability theory.

Some players have an idea similar to the previous one, it looks as follows: “I come into game, I do the rate if I win - I leave, if I lose - I play until I don’t recoup, as soon as I catch the luck - I leave”. Here and so, winning under one rate for calling, whether it is possible to be lucky actually all the time?
Alas, here I also cannot please you with the positive answer. A situation here is the same as well as with martingale. Some time you will be able to fulfill your winning plan, but such day when you from the very beginning go to a minus eventually will necessarily come, and as a result you will lose more than you won before.

Some players ask such a question: “I heard about optimum strategy in blackjack (video poker etc.). If I follow this strategy, how much I can win?” I will begin to answer this question from afar. Casino games can be classified into two big groups - the games depending only on good luck (luck games) and the games depending also on skill of the player (skill games). Examples of the first games are dices, slots roulette, baccarat; an example of the second one is blackjack, various kinds of pokers. To distinguish these two kinds of games is very simple - if you only do one initial rate and do not make any decisions any more till the end of game it is purely good luck games. If in the course of game you make additional decisions - what cards to change, whether to continue the game or not, whether to increase the rate or to leave former one, whether to take another card etc., these are already the games demanding certain knowledge and abilities - skill. In games of good luck expectation depends only on a kind of the rate of the player, actions of the player in general cannot affect expectation in any way. For example, in the European roulette any rate gives expectation of -2,7 %. In dices expectation depends on a kind of the rate and varies from-1,4 % to-11 %, the clever player will choose those kinds of rates where expectation is maximum (though here some knowledge is also required), but he cannot make more.

Taking into account the aforesaid I am “pleased” very much with repeatedly sounding questions: “Look, if I win in a casino, how much money am I allowed to deduce?” It is obvious, that the question is set by the person, who has heard through the grapevine about “safe” martingale, but has never played on real money, and already started to dream. I will repeat once again - safe systems of game do not exist, constantly to win in a casino is theoretically impossible. Try to play on real money, and similar silly questions will disappear at once.
